Vintage Mixed Media Father's Day Card Featuring Studio75 Cherry Blossom Collection with Tracey

Hello dear Scrap & Craft friends!

It's Tracey back to share a new project with you today. Father's Day is this weekend, and I've created a special vintage card for my dad featuring the fabulous Studio75 Cherry Blossom Collection which works great for both feminine and masculine themed projects.

Tips and Techniques
I used a couple sheets from the Studio75 6x6" Cherry Blossom paper set. The script page was brushed with clear gesso, then lightly dry brushed with white gesso to lighten the script. Black Lava Texture Gel is used with a Labrynth stencil to add graphic masculine texture. I used the black designed paper to back the lighter paper after trimming out the center which I used to die cut the gears. Several colors of art wax are rubbed over the gears to give an aged, rusty feel to them.

I added rusty stars and blades layered with gears, snaps, and stars. While the base pieces had a rust finish, the smaller pieces did not, so I brushed them with rust effects paste and added water that dripped down onto the paper making them look like they had rusted there. Of course I had to add a bit of rustic texture and used Bambino Glue to adhere prills and microbeads. This strong glue dries clear and is perfect for this task.

I brushed black gesso over this chipboard hinge and while wet, heated with a heat tool until it bubbled to give a grungy texture. It took several coats of bubbled gesso to achieve this texture. It was then brushed with patina effects paste and then several colors of art wax. The chipboard piece had small holes. I inserted black mini brads through the holes, rusty wire mesh pieces, and background paper to adhere the pieces. A bit of copper art wax over the brads adds to the vintage feel.

The sentiment is stamped onto kraft paper and the torn edges rubbed with distress ink. The boy is a paper doll image from my stash.

I hope you've been inspired to pull out your Scrap & Craft supplies
to create a card for a special dad in your life.

Thanks for stopping by today!
